I live and work in Sweden but I have American and Irish citizenship. In 2019 I bought my first Concept2 rower. It has been a great way to stay in shape and even fun to compare results in the log book. Then in November 2023 I decided it might be fun to try the World and European Indoor Rowing Championships in Prague for 2024. I joined Rowfit and their Row to Prague program to prepare and along the way I even competed in the Swedish National Indoor Rowing Championship and won gold for the open class 500m! At Prague I achieved a European Bronze medal competing with my Irish citizenship and came in 4th for Worlds, both for my age group and the 500m event.
In 2025 I won silver at the Swedish IRCH for 500m and double gold at the WRICH for 500m and 2000m for my age group 50-54. In the open WRICH competition I reached the semifinals finishing 27th in the world for 500m and 35th in the world for 2000m. At BRIC I shared gold for 500m making a spurt in the last 30m to tie and I got bronze for the 2000m.
2026 has started slow with injuries to both feet and no training for all of January. Still was able to make the finals for the 1 minute and 1000m events at the WVRICH 2026 but no medals. Now the rest of 2026 is all about getting back to pre-injury capacity and having fun on the way.
I've set multiple personal bests since joining and following Rowfit's program and listening to their coaching certainly played a big part in that.
