Rowing for fitness to aid recovery from 2 recent major surgeries including an abdominal wall rebuild. Was initially advised against rowing but ignored my surgeons advice and stepped it up a notch, which gave me the required fitness to have the surgery. Got congratulated in my efforts by the surgeon and I hear he has taken up rowing ;)
