RAC 2K Prep Wk3 S1 | Endurance
Setting a target pace of 1:42/500m for 12 minutes actually scared me! 🫣
💡What I learned:
- I have a lot of strength and stamina to draw upon from my legs (more than I think)
- Steady strong breathing keeps my engine going a surprisingly long time
- lower part of my quads hold a lot of power I can access right at the end of the leg drive
- Intending to have fun makes this fun, when I’m not slacking off and actually meeting my target pace
- if this had been a 2K I would have gotten a new PB
What I noticed:
- by end of the 3minute piece, I was hyperventilating uncontrollably (weird feeling), gasping for air
- I wasn’t able to hold it the whole time, but got in a great steady pace all the way to 2000m, then eased off a bit to something more sustainable, just long enough to catch my breath and find my second wind.
- 1:41 rate 27 felt pretty natural; kept gravitating there when aiming for 1:42 rate 26
